The Great Oakley Village Hall is a relatively new building in the history of Great Oakley. Opened in 2011 by the then Mayor of Corby, Councillor Gail McDade. It sits alongside the Great Oakley Cricket Club on land provided by Alexander de Capell Brooke. The village hall was supported financially by Northamptonshire County Council, Corby Borough Council, and WREN, a not-for-profit organisation that awards grants for community projects funded by landfill tax contributions.
The hall is managed by the Great Oakley Village Institute charity, with the guidance of a dedicated board of volunteer trustees. The day-to-day running of the hall is carried out entirely by volunteers, reflecting the strong community spirit in Great Oakley. A wide range of events and activities take place here, from Zumba and yoga classes to ballroom dancing, bowls, and Women’s Institute committee meetings.
