This year’s Great Oakley Village Fete proved to be a hugely successful day for the village, raising more than £7,000 and bringing together people from Great Oakley, Corby and the surrounding area.

Held on Sunday 6 September, the fete moved this year to its new location around Great Oakley Village Hall and Cricket Club on Lewin Road. The move proved a success, with the village hall kitchens better placed to serve teas and refreshments and the cricket club becoming part of the day.

The new outside bar at Great Oakley Cricket Club was particularly popular, taking an additional £2,100 during the afternoon.

There was plenty happening across the site, from the dog show, classic cars and traction engines to children’s activities, craft stalls, a barbecue, duck race and live performances.

But as ever, the real success of the fete came from the people behind it. Volunteers gave their time to organise the day, set up and clear away, bake, run stalls, serve refreshments and do the many jobs needed to make an event like this happen.

The annual fete has been part of Great Oakley life for more than 30 years, raising funds for St Michael & All Angels Church and bringing the community together.

More than £7,000 raised, a new venue that worked brilliantly and another memorable afternoon for Great Oakley.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.
