GCSE results day is always an important moment for young people and their families, marking a major milestone and the culmination of years of hard work.
This week, students across Brooke Weston Trust have been receiving their GCSE results and celebrating their achievements with teachers, families and friends.
For Great Oakley, it is also a particularly proud moment.
Our connection with education in Corby stretches back more than four decades. In the mid-1980s, Hugh de Capell Brooke began exploring the possibility of bringing a new school to Corby, driven by his belief in the importance of high-quality, state-funded education.
Brooke City Technology College opened in 1991 and, with the support of the Weston family, later became Brooke Weston Academy. From those beginnings grew Brooke Weston Trust, which today educates more than 10,000 young people across twelve schools in Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire.
Alexander de Capell Brooke continues Great Oakley’s long-standing commitment to education as a Director of Brooke Weston Trust, continuing a legacy established more than four decades ago.
But results day is ultimately about the young people themselves.
Reaching this point takes determination, hard work and resilience, and every student should feel proud of what they have achieved throughout their secondary school journey.
Whether they are returning to sixth form, heading to college or beginning an apprenticeship, everyone at Great Oakley sends this year’s students our warmest congratulations and wishes them every success for whatever comes next.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026.
