A Level results day is always an important moment for young people and their families, and this year there is plenty to celebrate across the Brooke Weston Trust.

For Great Oakley, it is also a source of particular pride.

The connection goes back more than 40 years. In the mid-1980s, Hugh de Capell Brooke began exploring the possibility of bringing a new school to Corby, driven by his belief in the importance of high-quality, state-funded education. Brooke City Technology College opened in 1991 and, with the support of the Weston family, later became Brooke Weston Academy.

From those beginnings grew the Brooke Weston Trust. The second school to follow was Corby Business Academy, designed by internationally renowned architect Sir Norman Foster. Today, the Trust educates more than 10,000 young people across twelve schools in Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire, all of which are currently rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.

Alexander de Capell Brooke continues Great Oakley’s long-standing commitment to education as a Director of the Brooke Weston Trust, playing an active role in the Trust and continuing a legacy established more than four decades ago.
And this year’s A Level results give Alex, and all of us at Great Oakley, plenty to celebrate.

Across the Trust, 364 students reached Key Stage 5 this year, with 356 taking A Levels. The average A Level grade was C+, with 43.5% of grades awarded at A*-B and 68.5% at A*-C. Applied General qualifications were another area of strength, achieving an average grade of Distinction-.

Brooke Weston Academy led the Trust for attainment, achieving an average grade of B-, with 54.3% of A Level grades at A*-B and 74.7% at A*-C. Thomas Clarkson Academy recorded the strongest A Level progress across the Trust, while Corby Technical School also performed strongly relative to students’ starting points.
But results day is about far more than numbers.

Behind every grade is a young person who has worked hard to reach this point. It is also a day to recognise the teachers and staff who have supported and encouraged them, and the families who have been alongside them throughout.

From the opening of Brooke City Technology College in Corby in 1991 to a Trust now educating more than 10,000 young people, the Brooke Weston Trust has grown enormously. What has remained constant is the ambition to give young people an excellent education and the opportunities that come with it.

Everyone at Great Oakley sends their warmest congratulations to this year’s students. We wish them every success as they take their next steps into university, further study, apprenticeships and employment.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026.
